New Year New Closet
It’s finally a new year and after the beating 2020 gave us, it’s time to focus on the new year and all the potential it has to offer. This month we want to help you get organized and what better way to do that than to start with your closet? We sat down with Sherri Eagle, Kitchen and Bath Designer to discuss how to revamp your closet for the new year.
Keeping your closet organized can be as simple or extravagant as you want. We offer options ranging from basic wire shelves to the Plato Closet System and some unique options in-between. Regardless of your project size, our consultants are ready to help you take your organization to the next level.
Wire shelving is the most standard closet option, it’s efficient and cost effective, but not always the prettiest.
One great way to upgrade your organization game is to use open shelving. The shelves add a sturdy, functional option that’s also less expensive than other closet organization components. Adding open shelving to your closet makes organizing items like shoes and purses easier and more aesthetically pleasing.
Another great way to elevate your organization game is to pull pieces from the Plato Closet System.
In a previous series we discussed the Plato Closet System, a semi customizable storage option for anyone looking to revamp their walk in closet space. We’ll hit a few unique details about this system in today’s post, but if you want to read more about the full system, click here.
If you don’t have the space for the full system, you can pick and choose storage and organization pieces from the system to add to your closet space.
“The nice thing about the Plato closet system components is that they offer limited customization,” said Sherri. “They offer cabinets, shelves or cubbies which hold a lot of items in a smaller space when installed floor to ceiling and organized accordingly.”
The units range from 18 inches wide to 36 inches wide with varying heights available. This makes it easier to select a few standard pieces to help upgrade your closet storage without investing in a full closet system.
A few other simple ways to enhance your organization are by adding shoe fences, drawer organizers for jewelry or out hamper. If you have a larger closet, Sherri also suggests mixing in cabinets with glass doors and lighted interiors to hold purses and sweaters. You can also add lighted clothes poles if your space lacks adequate lighting.
