Dallas Lightovation Recap

Two of Studio H2O’s showroom consultants headed to Dallas this year to attend Lightovation. This biannual convention pulls together the latest and greatest lighting products and trends from manufacturers across the country. Our consultants scouted Lightovation to bring back beautiful quality fixtures for our customers. You will want to keep an eye out for our lighting displays as they continue to grow! In the meantime, here are some stand-out trends and Lightovation highlights.

Top Trends

1) Clustered Pendants

In place of a single oversized light, many fixtures are pairing smaller identical lights to form a statement piece. The cascading effect works well in more narrow stairwells and entrances.

2) Two-Tone Fixtures

Even lighting fixtures can show off a pop of color! We love two-tone fixtures that contrast a neutral with a brighter hue. This allows you to easily mix and match the fixture to other furniture and accessories in your home - think white with a touch of brass or black with a punch of copper.

3) Open Cage Fixtures

More homeowners have been choosing larger, airy fixtures, and it's clear to see this trend isn't going anywhere! Decorative light bulbs shine bright in these open cages, free of glass or metal shades. Whether orb, squared angles to more geometric lines, you can be sure to find the right shape for your home.

4) Patterned and Textured Glass

Your glass choices now extend far beyond clear or frosted. Mercury glass, cut glass, and smoked glass are just a few looks you can expect. These unique and beautiful shades give big character to small pieces.

5) LED Tape Light

Tape light may be one of the most versatile lighting options out there. Known most traditionally for under cabinet placement, tape light is often used in kitchens to give light to counter space. However, many other applications are possible! Both sleek and functional, tape light can be used to illuminate tray ceilings, toe kicks, or wardrobe shelving. Take it one step further and tape light can be its own art installation in your home, as pictured below.

What Caught Our Eye:

“I may have squealed inside when I saw Mitzi. I loved it! Everything gold catches my eye and when I saw lighting in polished copper and aged brass, I was smitten. Mitzi also offers a variety of other sharp finishes such as polished nickel, polished brass, and old bronze. Hudson Valley has designed Mitzi with their high-end quality and budget-friendly customer in mind. I love the simplicity and clean lines of the fixtures. Our own Mitzi fixtures are on order for display and I can't wait to see them!” - Honor

“My favorite find was the new Bulbrite LED Grand Collection. These are oversized LED Nostalgic bulbs that can be used to replace an existing mini pendant fixture. They have a standard Medium base and you are able to screw them into your old pendent. These can also come with a lighting base that plugs directly into the wall. This is such a great way to do a quick update or add a fixture without having to tear into a wall.” – Maggie

We are so excited to bring some of these new fixtures in for you to see! We are adding to our lighting displays as often as we can and seek to offer a stunning variety of options. Here at Studio H2O, we work with homeowners every step of the way to select interior and exterior lighting for their homes.
